Richard and Michael are half brothers. They are two of eight siblings, all with different fathers. They were placed into foster care due to an abusive and impoverished life with their mother. All there siblings were in foster care in different homes. Richard was unable to be placed with foster families who were not experienced with children so mentally disabled so by defalt I took him in. I managed to find Richards brother Michael and had the agency move him to my home so the two brothers could be together. Richard came to my home by accident as a friend of mine had applied to be a foster parent and was going to visit Richard to make a decision on doing full time foster care for him. After meeting Richard she decided it would be impossible to handle a child with so many problems and work full time. As we were getting ready to leave the temporary foster home, the family informed me if he was not taken right then, they would put him on the street!!. Well I took him to my home, Temporarily, and here he stayed. Michael came along five months later due to a potential danger at his assigned foster home, and because he needed to be with his brother ( they hated each other ). The road ahead was overwhelming to say the least and what lied ahead could have never been foreseen. Richard and Michael were put into Psychiatric care and Michael was put into additional care of a Psychiatrist who deals with childhood sexual abuse. From there they were taken to a Neurologist and we found Michael had lead poisoning which stunted his growth. Between the three teams of Doctors the children were stabilized and Michael was removed from all medication. The road to remove Richard from medication would take another six months.
